The founder of School of Dogs, Hedda Garland, started out as an elementary school teacher. Becoming more and more interested in working with dogs and their guardians she attended numerous seminars and academies about positive reinforcement methods and clicker training. Hedda is a graduate of Pat Miller’s dog training and behavior modification intern academies. Pat Miller is one of the countries leading positive trainers and founder of Peaceable Paws.

Hedda also finished a formal 1 year apprenticeship at Peaceable Paws in Hagerstown, MD. She has attended seminars by Patricia McConnell, Steve White, Kathy Sdao, Sue Sternberg among others. Hedda continues to participate in educational seminars and workshops. She volunteers as trainer at the Washington Animal Rescue League in Washington D.C.
and assists Sabine Hentrich at Four Positive Paws in Greenbelt, MD.

Just recently Hedda started working as trainer for North Star Dogs. This foundation raises
and trains puppies to become assistance dogs for children with autism and other challenges.
